First Unscheduled Stop

Loose nuts get wet!!

The Quail Thermo was reading “TOO FREAKING HOT” and all of a sudden I saw fluids driping into the cabin from under the dash….. the only fluid that goes near there is GAS.  Thankfully it wasn’t gas. I haven’t figured out how to post a video yet, but let’s just say that I have a video that has coolant streaming out of the water pump which is in the FRONT of the engine compartment. The coolant splashed everywhere and just started to work its was through to the cab.  When it is 93 degrees (and more than that on the road), Model A’s aren’t always happy.

Here you can see me tighening the the packing nut on the pump.  It shouldn’t be leaking as I just lubed and tighened it before I left.  I will likely add more packing in Boston.  Once the car cools I will add a little water to replace what was lost.  I also called Red to let him know I would be a little later than expected.
